i love flowers .. all shapes, all sizes, all colors … above all(most) scents.

gardenFlowers1sometimes it is the only thing i grow … in my shamba. coming to  thinking about it, i think i choose a science pathway because of flowers, but that is a story for another day.

gardenFlowers i remembered this when i saw the flowers i had picked from my office garden in the background of this picture below from last week. it must have been a very ordinary day in paradise and was  likely on a roll lost in the moments of the fresh spring scents and dub – haa at american steel studios. guess i pick mself flowers to forget paradise is within a big mean contaminated metal steel warehouse in west oakland.

deskElectroncFlowerswriting and testing software for v2 controllers has been both challenging and fun, still, development is costly in time and cash. the picture above shows different stages of development and testing … kernels, applications, firmware, enclosures . still, my focus was the v2 controller board in the front. i was running some tests using an infra-red distance sensor. in order to simulate different  distances for testing, i used the closest flat stable thing i could find which was a new box of crackers i had just opened shown above.

irCrackerTest1the IR sensor works by bouncing an infrared beam on an object and determining how far the object is from the angle of reflection. pretty much my test was moving the box to different distances from the IR sensor and making sure the rest of the program was working.. the results of my tests are shown below: i am plotting this using grafana from live data i am pushing into an influxdb database from a remote server as in this project post i did earlier.

eatCrackerHabits2the changes from a high to a low show when i picked the box up. the amplitude indicates how far the box is from the sensor, i am not sure how to describe it, but i can also see how long i was holding the box for.eatingCrackersthe problem is every time i lifted the box to adjust my test,  i took at least one cracker .. and when i held it for long, it was because i was taking more than one cracker. unknowing my personal lifestyle data was superimposed on my IR test data, now i can see the source of many other challenges i deal with – not eating well, working too late into the night, not sleeping enough etc. as shown below:

data is fun, often i learn what i did not set out doing … still oh my .. the flowers smell so sweet
